Higg Brand & Retail Module

Use the BRM to evaluate social and environmental impact across a wide range of business operations, from packaging and transportation of goods, to the environmental impact of stores and offices.

Value of Higg BRM

The BRM is designed as a holistic, sustainability assessment tool that standardizes how brands and retailers measure and evaluate their environmental and social performance, year over year. This scalable tool will evaluate the maturity of a brand or retailer’s social and environmental management system. It drives performance improvement and assesses social & environmental risks, aligning with standards, government initiatives, and other Higg tools.

All users complete the Management System and Operations & Logistics sections. The Retailer, Brand, and Stores sections may also be unlocked depending upon your company’s business model. 

Scoring

BRM scores communicate a brand or retailer’s social and environmental impacts – from supply chain performance to company operations and logistics. BRM scores identify hotspots for sustainability improvements. The BRM features section scores and life cycle assessment scores.

Section Scores

The BRM assesses up to five sections of your company (depending on applicability to your company): management systems, brand, retailer, stores, and operations and logistics. Each section features an Environment Score and a Social Score. The BRM also provides a total Environment Score out of a possible 100%, and a total Social Score out of a possible 100%.

Life Cycle Assessment Scores

The BRM also provides a score for each applicable life cycle stage your company manages: distribution centers, management systems, offices, packaging, product, stores, supply chain – products, transportation, use, and end of use. Learn more about BRM scoring here

Verification

BRM verification ensures brand and retailer data captured on the Higg platform can be trusted by external stakeholders. The Higg BRM verification program is expected to launch in May 2021.

By using the Higg BRM, brands and retailers play a key role in the long-term success of sustainable practices. They can communicate the value of sustainable production to consumers, investors, and stakeholders.
